Week 5 ~ 07/15/2017

wendy~

I did my 5 week comparison photos.
Weighed in at 260.8

06/25/2017 (170)

wendy~

Hi Callie,
Friday's weigh in was 170.0
Am on track with my fueling and lean/green meal, water intake and reading.
Not sure why it went up, but it wasn't much.
Started going on walks.

Just checking in.

Wendy

Exercise will cause a stop or slight weight gain. It is initial just stay consistent and you will see a gradual
improvement.

I am beyond excited you are walking!!! That is a wonderful healthy choice. How do you feel when you
accomplish the walks?

Don't let the scale be the only determinant of health. Measurements and how you feel emotionally and
mentally are going to be great barometers too!

Congratulations!!

Wendy~

Noted. I was thinking for some reason, that we were supposed to start walking the second week. Maybe
because it said Habit of Motion on the journal pages, but I guess that was even on week ones journal pages.
I like to go for walks, it's just easy not to, i.e. the rain or hot weather. I feel relaxed after the walks. Not that I
have a need to relax..lol
Am I supposed to be measuring once a week as well?
I feel good. Week 2 was a little rough, craving wise, as my period ended (and for some reason I get crazy
teary for a few days after) and I was craving red licorice and a coke and layered bean dip..hahaha.  I like
bean dip on occasion, but I'm not sure where the licorice and coke thing came from. I don't ever eat those
things, if even once a year. It's not an issue now, craving wise, and I'm glad to be aware of what my body
 may do next month.
My taste buds seem to be changing though.
Things that I thought were really bland are actually starting to have quite a bit more flavor. :D

Wendy,
This is so great! I am so happy you are starting to feel those habits of health come through! You are an
inspiration; so calm, honest, and with the ability to move forward!

Do you have a plan on how you will get through all the 4th of July festivities? Let me know if I can help!

Measuring is going to be very helpful when you hit plateaus. I had a client whose weight did not change for 4
months but she lost 13 inches around her thighs during that time. So scale should not be your only
 measurement of success.

Keep at it! And have a wonderful holiday!

wendy~

Am not concerned about the holidays. We've got 2 birthdays, 2 grad parties and so far so good.

6/16/2017 (268.6)

Wendy~

I thought I sent this but It looks like I didn't.
I'm doing well. Really getting use to the fool.

Great place to start! Water water water! Especially after taking your first fueling! If you feel the need to reach for
food reach for the water instead! Let's get to the bottom of that emotional response you have to food! Ask yourself
"do I actually need what I am craving? Or am I just caving into a habit I have created!" Stop. Challenge. Choose.
And I am here! Call me if you need. I am so proud of you!

Wendy

LOL, I'm not really a craving person. I just don't eat. I realized my challenge is going to be remembering to eat,
as that seems to be a big issue that I need to retrain my mind in. I can see how one meal a day is not reasonable
or healthy. So, I've set a timer on my phone. I've been practicing with the timer, the past few days.
It's amazing how much I don't think about giving my body fuel. But explains why I feel exhausted by 2/3 pm.
I've already noticed these past few days, of just having a light snack every few hours, it has made me feel
more energized into the evening. Particularly when I am usually exhausted by those times. :)

Monday March 5th, 2018

So I sit here this morning, thinking about what I need to do. The things that I need to do.

  • Start rereading the Habits of Health book and actually do the workbook
  • Read The Overweight Mind and journal my thoughts about each chapter, as I feel the need to
  • Remember to take my monthly photo on Friday, as I don't think I have done that it about 2 months.
  • Measure on Friday, when I weigh in, as I haven't done that in a while either.
  • Remember to set my phone for my fuelings. (going to take a second and do that right now).
  • Remember to drink my water
  • Start Blogging what I am eating every day and how I am feeling right before I sit down to eat something. And what that "something" is.
  • I'd also like to finish reading the book Savor, which means I need to get it from the library. But I will do that when I have finished The Overweight Mind book.
Also, I went and cleaned the offices today. That was some form of exercise. The movement was good anyway. I spent about an hour and 15 min cleaning.

The Real Deal 06/08/2017

So I started this blog quite a while back.
A refresher, my cousin lost weight and inspired me.
What I found was, that I thought I could do it on my own. What she was doing that is.
I now realize that there is so much more to losing weight, beyond what I am just putting in my mouth or the exercise that I am getting.

Last year I started this particular program with my mother.  One of her relatives was very sick and after years of battling illness, he passed. I think it lit a fire with my mom.
I remember being at her house the day that we had decided to make a call to our cousin and ask for her health coaches name and phone number.
I remember crying to my mom about my frustration in seeing the recent photos from my daughter's 18th birthday/graduation ceremony and being in shock that I was the size that I was seeing.
I just didn't see it. I look in the mirror every single day, and I kid you not, I just don't see the weight.
I weighed 282.8 lbs at 5'5" tall. Not a good combo and definitely not a healthy place to be.
We both decided, that day, to call the health coach and to start our journey.
Neither of us had any clue as to what that was going to look like, beyond eating certain foods daily, that were prepackaged and only having to think about making one meal a day and being accountable for what that meal consisted of.

I thought many times about starting up a blog, as I forgot about this one until today, and journaling my process and progress, but alas I put it off and never got around to it, until this very moment.
So, here I am. Starting a new, with a plan to fill in the gaps from last year. My progress, my moments of trying to regroup and find new momentum, my pictures of physical progress and every thing that I have learned up until this very moment.

So please bear with me, as I try to fill in all of the gaps and help myself remember why I am doing what I am doing and how I am going to get there.

I would never have been able, on my own, to make the journey that I have up until this point, without the help.  Not only personal but also financial help from my mother. I know that she knows that this is important for us both and I will never be able to repay her for investing her time and money in my present, as well as my future. I know that she wants the best for her children and wants to see them thrive. It isn't the only reason that I am working so hard to reach my goals, but at the same time, I have so much appreciation for this type of particular support that I wouldn't want to feel like I was wasting anyone's time or money, regardless of who they are. But the encouragement that she has given me, constantly, has been huge.  I believe her love language is words of encouragement. The letters that I get at least once a month or when I hit a new milestone in my health pursuit success, the encouraging cards that she sends me in the mail, even though I see her once a week and sometimes more, are appreciated more than she will ever know. They're just nice little encouragement notes. I am thankful for her presence in my life.

Got side tracked...back on track

So, I talked with my cousin this weekend. She has lost 102 lbs, since last August 2015. Crazy.
I can't even imagine losing 100 lbs. But after hearing about what she was doing, I believe that it can happen.
So she was doing a specific program, where you pay for your food and can get free support.
After hearing about what she is doing and looking at the program online, I think that I can pull this off myself. :D

My plan:
Daily 30+ minute walk
5 meals of approx. 100 calories, no more than 115
1 meal of 3 cups of greens (veggies) and 1 cup of protein
Eating my meals, at approx. every 2 hours (whether I am hungry or not)

So here we go. (Day 1, Monday)
I am not sure what my weight is at currently, but as soon as I can I will get do a weigh in and get a number (as a base line).
What I have eaten so far today:
I have had 2 cups of coffee. (hm, I didn't consider the calorie count in coffee)
HA! I just looked it up. So apparently only 2 calories per cup.
830~ 3 rice cakes
1030~ 3 rice cakes
1230~ Protein shake with 1/4 cup coconut milk, ice and water (made with Garden of Life's Raw Protein Powder...chocolate :D )
230~ 1 rice cake with 1 T plain hummus (YUM!)
1c of Naked "Kale blazer" Juice
630~ 1c White rice, 7 meatballs, Broccoli and Water chestnuts with Orange sauce
(it wasn't the healthiest or inline with the above meal)
I probably won't eat again tonight, but I will see as I should be having 6 light meals. I think the last one just counted as two..haha.
*I didn't eat anything else last night. I was too full from dinner. I didn't walk.*

Day 1~Just the beginning

I am starting today, no better time to start than the present, right!?
This is going to be my journey of becoming a healthier me.
I plan on logging on a daily basis, so I can see where I came from.
Today is May 21st, 2016.
So far I have drank coffee and had breakfast garbage, that consisted of coconut oil, onions, potatoes and spices (salt, pepper, garlic powder).

To start, my plan is to get in at least a 30 min walk, on the treadmill or walk around my neighborhood.
I plan to eat more fruits and vegetables, vegetables particularly, drink more water and stay away from sweets and sugar.

I am finding that every day adds up and I am only accountable to myself.
So, if I am writing down what I am doing everyday, in regard to what I eat and my physical movement, I should be able to write my success down daily. My thought is that I want to have something to write down. If I do nothing, what do I have to write down? So baby steps to the treadmill, baby steps away from the candy bar right!?

Good thing I can't stand ice cream, the people in my house love it and I'm glad that I have an aversion to cookies and ice cream, otherwise I might be in trouble.

I plan on juicing more and doing the coffee enemas that I was doing once before.
I found that they were both very helpful with my losing weight, when I added them to my regular life schedule of doing things.

I am thinking that I would like to try yoga, to help with balance and then what I believe will be toning in the long run (if that's how it works)...lol

In 15 months we are going back to Disneyland.
I haven't been there since my youngest was 5 months old and what I remember was that the rides were very tight and uncomfortable. The belts were hard to strap and the bars were hard to pull in. I hated it.
Things are about to change.

Also, I have been smoking on occasion for the past 2 years. Sometimes no cigarettes a day, sometimes 1, sometimes just 2 and sometimes 5 or 6. But it more so the 1 or 2 a day or nothing than anything.
This is going to stop. I like to casual smoke, but I hate how I smell afterward as well as the little bit of twinge of headache that I seem to be getting afterward.

I have smoked 2 cigarettes this morning. My husband is a smoker, so it is really easy to go outside and chill with him and light one up. I think, it's no big deal, but every time I do it, I swear to myself (in my mind) that I won't be doing it again as I don't like how I feel/smell.

I have been waking up in the mornings feeling nauseated everyday, as well as having some form of headache. I don't like how I am feeling. Enough is enough.

So, here we go! Cheers Nikki Lucy, you can do this! I love you, now let's take care of you!
